The Merchant's House Museum is committed to making its offerings accessible to all audiences. As part of this ongoing project, we welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions. Email nyc1832@merchantshouse.org or call 212-777-1089.
For Visitors with Limited Mobility
The Merchant's House is not wheelchair accessible, due in part to its status as an historic landmark. The Museum tour visits three floors with a total of 36 steps in two staircases, as well as a flight of 7 steps to enter the building. There is no elevator.
If you are unable to visit the Museum, 360-Panoramic Tours and other displays in our Virtual Museum offer an alternative way to see the House and its collection.
For Visitors Who are Blind or Partially Sighted
Free audio tours of the Merchant's House Museum are available on any cell phone, or by mp3 download from our Virtual Museum. Docents are available to describe the Museum and answer questions. Service animals are not permitted.
For Visitors with Hearing Impairment
The Museum's written self-guided tour is available at all times. Docents will be glad to answer questions in writing if an interpreter is not available. The Museum does not have Sign Language interpreters on staff; however visitors are welcome to bring their own (admitted free).
